OUTSIDE THE CULT: Bakecon x Brown Dwarf Records

Bakecon Lookbook Teaser from Tomi Uysingco on Vimeo.

Finally done with this little collab project of ours with Bakecon. But that's not to say this is the end of the collab. Nope not even close. Better kepp your eye for the next one. That shit is gonna be massive.

Big ups to our homies Rocket House ProductionsManila Massive and Blot Art Studio for the major help. Good looking out dudes. Check the video out then peep that lookbook that everyone is ranting and raving about. You should see the comments section down at Purveyr, man. Funniest stuff I've seen since the Grammy's this morning. We can't be bothered by trolls sipping on the haterade since, well, we're all trolls sipping on the haterade. SHWING!

Streetwear is dead, long live streetwear!

click on the picture to go to the Lookbook, and check out the catalogue while you're at it. DO IT!

Now, for something music related.

Our friends west from us, Brown Dwarf Records has this to say about the cult and our other homeboy Into Entropy Recordings. Its pretty sweet and they are now officially in the gang - without even the need of being jumped-in at the back parking lot of some stripmall in Compton or some shit.

Anyway.

Brown Dwarf Records are cool dudes and we'll be collaborating soon on something special. Hint: it spins around and your dad along with that one friend of yours that calls himself a hipster would flip over these. Got it? Shh. Don't tell anyone just yet.

CULT NEWS: New shit!

Gonna keep this update short and sweet so strap on kids

Newest cultist and all around prolific motherfucker nullse✝ would drop his newest LP Bearcraft on the blog today! YES KIDS TODAY.

But while you're waiting - listen to his just released EP GUDD∆WI✝CH II. That shit crey fo realz. Throw the dude a few bones on his Bandcamp.

In the midst of making her EP - Saats Bahar made a few edits + a track off her EP to tide us over from the excruciating wait. Also: her track for the label sampler is mad bomb man.

And speaking of new members of the cult: heavy✝black IS THE DUDE. Take our word for it kids - you're listening to someone onto bigger things. Dude is so bomb he's about to blow up! Watch out for his EP on here!

Is▲Real made a crazy remix that is just the straight up TRUTH. Stream it to believe it!

Speaking of remixes this happened:

This just goes to show that Cult Shit is on Ke$ha's radar which is just the funniest thing EVER.

Now lastly listen to the new collab DJ Dragoste did with DJ Warde. ILL SHIT.

CULT NEWS: New CSMB artists x Upcoming releases x DJ Dragoste mix x The Pyramid Head label sampler

Look. It's Tom Cruise. He's down with cults.

Anyway, where to start? How about The Broken Leslies. Comprised by 4 cats rocking and rolling the blues away, its not far off that The Broken Leslies would become your new favorite band. Because, despite popular belief, we are not just a label of genre bending electronic music. In case you missed the memo, we're down with tunes that are DOPE, and it should come to no surprise to anyone that WE LOVE ROCK AND ROLL AROUND THESE PARTS.

So let The Broken Leslies' blistering rock and roll break that puny indie neck of yours all in good fun, because that's how rock should be - fun and dangerous. Watch out for their release here in CSMB soon!

Anyone remember Spazzkid?

If you were following the progression of CSMB since its early days (which you probably haven't), circa 2007 or something - back when this whole operation came with the name PKi! - our friend and label comrade Spazzkid used to be Cocolulu. He even played his first show in the first PKi! House Show (that was also Legarda's first show before they became the juggernauts of post-rock they are now), but then he moved to sunny California and left us with songs that made us hopeful for his return. tl;dr Spazzkid is an old friend of the cult.

Well, Mark aka Spazzkid isn't back home and won't be any time soon, but guess what: since we got to talking and teary eyed with nostalgia, we decided that he should be part of the cult again. Fuck distance dude, distance is for chumps who don't have the internet. So better watch out for his first official release here and get stoked on his exclusive track on the upcoming label sampler at the end of the month!

For now though listen to his latest track featuring Skymarine from Davao. We've been playing this for 2 days now and it just won't stop being so incredibly good.

Now onto Lucas Tools.

Lucas Tools is a dude from Tunisia, North Africa and he makes electro ambient jamz that lasts for days, music that you just don't want to end. He is also a pretty cool dude and chill to talk to, if you're into that sort of thing. Anyway, there are plans of releasing his EP called Ketsuban - a first of three parts - here in the cult so you gots to be pumped up for that. It's going to be just MASSIVE we tells you.

But while you wait for that, listen and download his maxi EP Fresh Organic Product to whet your appetite. It's mad dope.

Dragoste is back! Well, we think he is. Dude got back to us a couple of days ago and said that he backed up his files and is going to finish mastering that mix of his so we could release it soon. Weird guy, but we love that bat shit crazy dude just the same. "Haters gonna hate I guess lol" was what he said to us when he messaged our Facebook. Hackers are bummers sometimes.

Listen to his Fiona Apple deep house remix and his remix of Mr. Biggs' Take That Shit to Trial for now, and don't worry, we'll tell you when to get back at us when that mix drops.

Now as for the label sampler we keep talking about...

Apocalypse comes early. CULT SHIT MEDIA BLACKOUT PRESENTS THE PYRAMID HEAD DROPS 11.30.12

With tracks from everyone in the Cult Shit roster. Better stay strapped til that one happens because you don't wanna get gunned down without hearing this shit. Real talk.

Also, don't forget that Z◊ɤɤ◊B▲Bͼ// is gonna release his EP on the 19th, that's Monday, SO MARK THOSE CALENDARS.

OUTSIDE THE CULT: UP! Australia x CVTY x Rocket House

Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt: UP! x Cult Shit Media Blackout from Tomi Uysingco on Vimeo.

Did we say that November is our month? Because it is.

Just last week, before we went up the mountains to gather shit tons of the sticky herb, we dropped the first collab video we did with UP!, Australia's premier guerrilla marketing team. So if any of you are in Melbourne, hook up with these dudes. They're dope.

We're dropping video 2 next week so keep your ears to the ground homeslice. Shit is gonna be bananas.

JUNKYARD SESSIONS from triskaideka tv on Vimeo.

And now for an oldie but a goodie. Around 6 months ago, we collaborated with our buds in Rocket House and the mad prolific CVTY Collective to make this short documentary. It was shown at Tiga South's first event at South Bar, along with some rocking tunes and more videos from CSMB and Rocket House. That was a blast. Go watch that shit again!

Oh and BTdubs, go like the Rocket House facebook page and watch the latest video reel they made. HYPE.

OUTSIDE THE CULT: Wetcats x Vandals on the Wall x PhilSTAR

Wetcats x Cult Shit Media Blackout from Tomi Uysingco on Vimeo.

Lets start from the latest shall we?

Barely after midnight on a Monday, Cult Shit Media Blackout dropped the video for Wetcats Clothing's premier collection of swimsuits. It has skateboards and swimsuits and girls with tattoos smoking the sticky-icky. We figured nothing goes more viral than that.

This marks the first of a billion more collaborations with a billion more others. Keep your head up and watch out for what we have in store for Wetcats Clothing's brother brand, Bakecon. We already have plans, alls we need now is the time.

Vandals on the Wall has been giving the cult a lot of blog love lately. From featuring KB's album in the past and the video for Opalus, to two dope tracks from resident cultists Nemesis Q and Z◊ɤɤ◊B▲Bͼ// (blogspot is shitty and can't recognize crazy fonts: BOOOOO!).

Go click around the Vandals blog and get some indie cred points while listening to Nemesis Q smash a bitch.

While we're on the subject, someone new is gonna drop something for the cult, and dude's name is Z◊ɤɤ◊B▲Bͼ//. Straight outta the xmas capital San Fernando, ZB lashes out with a not so cheery christmas mood. We think its better if you listen to his two tracks for yourself.

Also, remember to keep your ear to the ground, dude might drop something soon here!

And lastly, since I'm getting mighty lazy doing this update the blog thing, KB and Anna Korsakoff side project Love in Athens was in the local paper. PhilStar SUPREME. Go look for that in their archives, with the website we're too lazy to link. You'll find it, we trust you. Its a pretty good read. You should go do that while we take a nap.

Peace bitches!

CULT NEWS: New CSR artists x New releases x New jamz on Soundcloud

No its not the end, it just seems like we forgot to post that update on Mushroom, the Truth x King Mango Mustard collab thing we were talking about the past month. Whoops. That's what happens when you do nothing but watch KOTD rap battles the whole day (Dizaster won the chain vs. PoRich in case you're not in the up and up).

Don't fret though! We come prepared this time around. We have that and tons of other cool news, so lets get cracking.

What can we say? Its Shrooms and the Mustard doing what they do best - post-internet freak-drone with smatterings of found sound collages and heavy reverb. The double EP (isn't that an album essentially?) would be out soon enough so lets all hold our horses. But just by sampling this, you already know that shit is gonna be golden.

Speaking of new music...

There's new members of the Cult Shit Records, um, cult. 2 of them actually. First is DJ Drgaoste from the swamps of Louisiana. No wonder what he does is some dope ass murky shit that plays great on marshland parties. The kinds of parties where you get knee deep in muck that you can't dance right. What? You've never been to one of those? Damn son, you're not living! Bump this shit instead.

DJ Dragoste's first release for the cult would be the sick end of the summer mixtape (more like end of the world) for the CSR Mixtape series (CSRMIXTAPE001) and trust us, we heard the yet to be mastered version and just by that alone its going to be fire. And motherfucking brimstone. Get stoked on that!

Now get in-touch with your inner ghoul and step inside the zombie train 2-stepping that ghoulstep. Salute your new hero, Is▲Real. Not much is known about this cat, just that he would like to find those cyber goths raving to Mortal Kombatronica under the bridge. That and that this mix is pretty much the jam of witches. And if this is any indication what's in-store with his first release for CSR, then its gonna be gravy.

Best known as that guy who smashes guitars, make way for another title: that dude that smashes mics. Nemesis Q drops one killer filler that just makes us anticipate that EP even much more! Niggas in Stoops 2k12! Get that done already dude, ASAP.

<

Remember when we said that there's gonna be a Happyboy/KB split? Here's some news for ya: we have all the tracks and its tight as fuck! Not only that, alls it needs now is some proper artwork and that shit would be a go. It has 8 tracks that you and your partner could bang to, just enough time if you ask us. CSR006: Happyboy/KB Split soon!!

Now, if all of that doesn't get your attention I don't know what will. GET THE  FUCK OUTTA HERE!

CSR005: Mushroom, the Truth - Feathers in the City EP

Down with the crown.

Back around the mid-00s everyone was into Animal Collective and all that "New Weird America" jazz. Shrooms elevated those standards by mixing in drone and straight up weirdness that his western counterparts won't even touch.

Now that everyone moved on with their sound and no one remembers what the fuck Devendra Banhart  sounds like when he was on mad drugs our boy Shrooms is stepping his game up yet again with an EP that sounds rural as it is urban. Its the music of the forest if the forest is surrounded by towering condominiums: dreamy but grounded, droney but melodic, detached but hyper real. This is the sound of machines and barks of trees singing and smashing into each other.

Essentially its lo-fi drone-freak folk music for these dark times. Get at it dudes!

Mushroom, the Truth - Feathers in the City EP

And as if that's not enough tomorrow we would be releasing a sneak peek on what's in-store for Shrooms: a collaboration double EP with Cult Shit found sound magicians King Mango Mustard! Get stoked!!

In other cult news: Legarda's Happyboy is gonna release a split with okkvltists K▼L▲M†††B▲R▲NG very soon. News on that as it develops.

OUTSIDE THE CULT: Sadayatana x K▼L▲M†††B▲R▲NG

Sadayatana, according to wikipedia, is sanskrit for the six sense bases -- the sense organs and their objects. Its a Buddhist concept, bruh.

John Tocher, an LA transplant now living in southeast Texas, scourers the free music culture of the interwebs for new and old releases encompassing the realms of avant garde, experimental, electronic, musique concrete, industrial, and all these other dada-ist like music.

Now, if that is something that gets your rocks off, then Sadayatana is your cup of tea! While googling resident occultist K✝B, Cult Shit has came across this gem of a podcast. Its a pretty old episode (because a couple of months in internet time is the same as decades), released about the time Albularyo Prime came out on QED, making it an instant classic. And yes, we did stumble upon this by goggling ourselves. YOU DO IT TOO SO BACK OFF!

This is what Mr. Tocher has to say about Sadayatana 067: Beast People:
Show starts with a collage and looping of tracks by Universos Virtuales (fantastic!) and generally moves into drone territory and layering of samples taken from the Librivox recording of H.G. Wells' "The Island of Dr. Moreau".
The samples were woven into the mix via a script that selected then at random then delayed the selection and playing of the next sample by a random interval. It worked well but you can hear a sample colliding with the voice over / podcast id. Oh well, this is what experiments are for.
Excerpts were played of a tribute to Sadayatana by Luís Antero. Thank you Luís. Very nice.
Particular use was made of Graham Dunning's release "Recompiled 2010 - 2011". Fantastic stuff.
A couple tracks from the "Witch House" release by Kulam+++Barang "Albularyo Prime"
A crunchy and textured time was had by all. This show includes tracks by Backyard Ghost, Black Winds, Cdrx, C. Reider / Tarkatak, Digital Mass, Epsilon Eridani, Graham Dunning, Kulam+++Barang, Kluge, Luciftias, Luís Antero, Melophobia, M.Nomized/the Implicit Order, Morpheus, Peter Leshtchenko, Ricardo Webbens, Rigel Orionis, The Ghost Between The Strings, Universos Virtuales, Wings Of An Angel, Zreen Toyz.
Yes Vuvuzelas are heard to excess at the start of the show. Somehow it works great.
Get your headphones on kids, this shit is gonna be a bumpy ride.

Download: Sadayatana 067: Beast People

There are TONS of other episodes that span the musical gamut, from dark ambient to field recordings, something CSR backs hard being occult tastemakers of outsider music and all, so if you're here then you're probs into that too. Grab all the Sadatayana podcasts like Pokemons here!

John, you're a homeboy for life.

And since were on the subject of K▼L▲M†††B▲R▲NG, dudes are gearing up for another remixtape release for CSR soon. Listen to these two new mixes:

A glitchy/drone-y take on the OPM cult classic Gusto Ko Ang Nota of former sexy actress-cum-singer Aleck Bovick. Yes, this is serious. Also, where in the world is Aleck Bovick nowadays?

This one is for all the love ones. Particularly my man Big Pun, Pac, Biggie etc etc etc.

Good Bye E▲rth Remixtape 2k12 would be out as soon as the drugs get out of our system. The world won't collapse on itself before it comes though, so don't fret.

We also promise next time the post WON'T be about KB. Those prolific motherfuckers. Next up: CSR005! The enigmatic drone folkster Mushroom, the Truth upping the freaks with his Feathers in the City EP! Stoked!

CULT NEWS: The Pyramid Head Compilation x Nemesis Q

Its early in the morning, too early in fact, but lets pretend actual people read this blog and download our releases and get hyped when new shit is announced. The picture of Yao Ming on my lighter urges me to "go, do it anyway!" I'm taking that dude's advice, because I'm high.

SO.

Sometime this year CSR would be releasing a compilation, and we're calling it THE PYRAMID HEAD. Its dark shit for these dark times... the soundtrack for an upcoming apocalypse. Don't take my word for it, though. I'm known to lie and I hate The Perks of Being a Wallflower but think Veep is funny.

It would have new shit from everyone in the cult so get stoked on that. Exclusive traxxx bruh! It even has Nemesis Q in it! You don't know who Nemesis Q is? For shame! Listen here:

Now if that isn't dope shit. WATCH OUT FOR HIS EP OUT ON CULT SHIT RECORDS SOON! What? Yep, ya heard me.

CULT NEWS: CSR on Soundcloud x King Mango Mustard x K▼L▲M†††B▲R▲NG

Stepping in to the future!

Since you're all probably tech savvy and shit you already probably know what the fuck Soundcloud is so this won't come as big news to any of you. Anyway here's a new track from King Mango Mustard's upcoming full length (that would be CSR003 for those who are keeping score) Käännökset. They're calling it field recordings from home.

The party (if you call that ambient minimalism a party) doesn't stop there though! Since K▼L▲M†††B▲R▲NG is so prolific we're calling it now: CSR004 would be K▼L▲M†††B▲R▲NG's new full length K▲B▲B▲L▲GH▲N. Listen to this haunting party groove off the album and play it loud on your nana's funeral after party!

And pop those peepers creepers and dig the album art made by Blue Tooth (of the Cult Shit crew!) for the landmark album. Radimus prime!
